Ottawa (CP)
In a continued effort to present a united front to the Liberal party, the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservative parties announced today that their leaders would be entering into a same-sex marriage.

The impending marital union of Stephen Harper and Peter McKay rocked the right wing establishment, but the two men described it as "the only practical alternative."

Same-sex marriage was recently legalized in Ontario by an Ontario Court of Appeals ruling. Harper and McKay went together to Ottawa city hall today to obtain a marriage license. During a brief press conference outside, McKay told assembled reporters and Gay rights activists that "Everybody is describing this merger as a marriage of the two parties, and we just thought: What better way to reflect that?"

Harper and McKay further announced their intention to run the party jointly as a couple.

Harper and McKay have been carrying on their clandestine relationship during the entire length of discussions to "unite the right" and were alleged to be seen holding hands, and "playing footsies" under boardroom tables during discussions.
